Inspired by Bhanu Kapil Rider's The Vertical Interrogation of Strangers, we ask Meredith Graves of Perfect Pussy twelve questions.

1. WHO ARE YOU AND WHOM DO YOU LOVE?

I'm Meredith Graves, and I love so many people that it causes trouble. Here are three songs about falling in love.

2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNj9bXKGOiI

2. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE MOST RECENT DREAM THAT YOU BEST REMEMBER?

Lorde called me to ask if I'd accompany her to get her first tattoo. When we showed up, Rihanna was there, because she was the person who had recommended the artist. I was watching them get tattooed when a phone call came in accusing me of plagiarizing someone else's thoughts in an article.

3. WHAT OCCUPIES YOUR THOUGHTS MOST LATELY?

The fact that I'm fulfilled in nearly every area of my life and happier than I've ever been, but it isn't translating to my finances. So I'm worried about groceries and MetroCards and paying the rent, like every other person my age.

4. WHEN WERE YOU FIRST MOST AWARE OF YOUR PRESENT PASSIONS AS A CHILD?

I remember my first diary at age six, I filled a three-subject notebook in about a month, and I remember making my friends play 'rock and roll band' with me instead of dolls or sports.

5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FEELING?

I call it the 'bliss point' but it's hard to describe. That's when everything around you gets a certain light and sparkle and you're pulled outside your body and realize that you're perfectly satisfied with that moment, where you are and what's happening. It makes you feel sort of manically inspired and full of hope and genuine love for everything. I get it at least once a day for about ten seconds but I can't do it on command.

6. WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE FEELING?

The helplessness of living in a murderous, racist police state.

7. HOW DO YOU FUNCTION AND/OR FLOURISH IN SOLITUDE VS. AMONG PREFERRED COMPANY?

I was designed for solitude, but I'm very friendly. I spend 90% of my time alone and then blow all my stored-up energy the one night a week I go to a show. Socializing makes me feel like I've gone to the gym.

8. ARE YOU GOOD AT BEING UNCOMFORTABLE?

I live in a van for eleven months at a time, eat potato chips three meals a day and sleep sitting up. But I crawl out of my skin if I'm in the company of people who say fucked up, oppressive things. Yes and no.

9. WHAT DO YOU IMAGINE MOST PEOPLE GET WRONG ABOUT YOU AT FIRST ACQUAINTANCE?

Probably almost everything, because when most people meet me, they see the 10% I mentioned before. I'm a very quiet and reserved person, I'm just very friendly and then I get really impassioned when I talk.

10. HOW/WHO IS YOUR IDEAL AUDIENCE?

My ideal audience is whoever decides to show up, and hopefully they're happy.

11. WHERE IS HOME?

Brooklyn, right now. I moved here two months ago after we toured Europe for the first time and I realized I was getting homesick for a city I'd never lived in. I'm ridiculously happy here.

12. WHAT QUESTION WOULD YOU ASK TO WHOMEVER IS READING THIS?

What are you doing to take care of yourself, and what are you doing to take care of others?
